dream.

DREAM  EVERY DAY.

It’s my life motto.  Make it yours.

It truly is a mantra I live by.  Organically.  My mind wanders as I’m prepping coffee each morning.  Again, while making breakfast for my offspring each day.   At the gym.  At work.

Luckily, I work in a creative environment that nurtures dreaming, yet even if you’re in an analytical field, still take time daily to dream about travel, personal goals, relationships, professional goals, etc.

Encourage your kids to dream.  Ditto with your aging parents.  You’re NEVER too old to dream.

Make that dream a reality.  Hour by hour.  Day by day.  Year by year.

When days seem to drag on and on, and you feel your footing in life is out of balance, alas hang on.  And don’t lose sight of your dreams.

Dream big.

Dream small.

Dream every single day.

Kimberly

unplug.

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for awhile… including you.  ~Anne Lamott

No truer words spoken.  If you’re reading this, thank you.  It also means you’re plugged in.  Take time away from your screen or screens, all of them.  Focus on your breathing and life around you.  Pause and be present.  With yourself.  With your partner.  With your children.  With your life.  And, while you’re unplugged, play with your children, partner, friend, & dog.  Read a book.  Paint.  Cook.  Hike.  Write.  Bike.  Walk.  Canoe.

& repeat.

& stay unplugged for awhile.  It’s good for the soul.

xoxo~

awakening.

Awakening:  a form of enlightenment.  Roosters serve as an awakening of sorts, not only around farms across the globe, yet also in symbolic interpretations throughout various cultures.

In 2010, I found myself standing in an olive grove in southern Spain, surrounded by roosters + hens, experiencing a bit of an awakening.  While visiting my sister in Madrid, our family took a road trip to Valderrama Olive Oil Factory in Southern Spain.  On the heals of an elegant wine/sherry tasting at Osborne Winery, my brother-in-law surprised us with this special trip to Valderrama.  We were given a private tour of the factory + olive groves, as well as a delectable meal at the Argentinian restaurant located within the factory.  The restaurant only opens for large groups, though my brother-in-law kindly persuaded the owner to open for our small group of six.  While waiting on the women (who soon became our friendly chefs/servers), I roamed around the farm with my two children and camera in hand.  In the barnyard, a gaggle of hens + roosters greeted us.  Per usual, I photographed the roosters + hens, then gathered my offspring for staged shots in the groves.  It occurred to me while there, how incredibly lucky we were to be standing on fertile soil, farmed for over 150 years and how hundreds (maybe even thousands) of farm hands had cared for the olives, from planting to harvesting to processing.   During our time spent in the groves, a light mist of rain showered us throughout the entire tour, only adding to the romantic sense of place/time.

This entire experience changed my life.  It forever altered the way I feel about everyday tasks (sometimes seemingly mundane) as well as how I view and embrace special moments such as fine dining + travel.  Standing in olive groves, surrounded by roosters and hens aplenty, provided such familiarity and comfort in an otherwise seemingly foreign place.  And, something about the roosters and hens crowing + pecking around the land, gave way to clarity and soulful enlightenment.

All we have is the here + now.  This realization fueled my desire to share my passion with the world as well as encourage others to live in the moment.   That’s officially how Red Rooster Images, LLC was born.

Kimberly
